Your recovery, week by week

Days 1 to 3

Rest at home with your head raised. Most patients need little pain relief after the first 24 hours.

Days 7 to 10

Dressings and stitches come out at the clinic.

Week 2

Most people are back at work and seeing friends. You can usually drive again too.

Weeks 3 to 6

Gentle exercise from week 3 or 4, and your full routine from around week 6.

Months 3 to 12

How much does a facelift cost in London?

It depends on the technique and whether you combine it with anything else, such as a neck lift or fat transfer. You'll get an exact quote after your consultation, and the consultation fee is taken off your surgery fee if you go ahead.

How long does a facelift last?

A well done deep plane facelift typically lasts ten years or more. Your face keeps ageing naturally, but from a fresher starting point.

Will I need a general anaesthetic?

No. Dr De Silva uses local anaesthetic with sedation, given by an anaesthetist. Fewer than 1% of patients feel sick afterwards.

Is the recovery painful?

Most patients describe it as discomfort rather than pain. More than half don't need any pain relief after the first 24 hours.

When can I go back to work?

Most people return to work and social plans at around two weeks, once most of the bruising and swelling has settled.

Am I a good candidate?
